Thumprint Drawing :: Actual Drawing Development

So continues my Thumbprint Drawing from earlier this week.

Well, I dove in the same day I received the paper and started working/practicing on the bikes. It took about three rounds before I really got the first bike the way that I want it. I also decided that I'm not going to put both bikes right by each other because I don't think they will look as nice.

It took most of the day, but I really worked on the text for this. After exhausting how the bikes should look I was really glad to be working on something more definite like type. First I looked for fonts that were like the look requested and then I went to sketching right on the paper. I gridded off the are I wanted it and made sure it was centered. This worked very well and made sure everything was where I wanted it to end up.

Doing this really makes me feel like I'm back in highschool doing homework for an art class! I have to say - I really enjoying the flash-back from when I used to draw more. You get in this zone and hear things happening around you, but stay focused on the project. Chad and I were watching some episodes of "Lie to Me" on Netflix. The show kind of loses something since it's about seeing signals of a persons body language to see if they are telling the truth or not. Maybe next time I'm move to my traditional chick-flick that I used to turn on back in college while I worked. :)

I have to say - Chad has the most amazing pen collection. It was so nice to just raid his drawers and find what I want. The pen that I decided to go with is pretty fine and he only has one so I think I'll have to go out and buy another. But, it's nice to start with a buffet of nice pens before so I didn't have to buy a bunch, or try one-at-a-time and have to run out to get another if it didn't work.

I'm very happy with how this is turning out so far and I plan to sketch the tree and bikes in pencil in the next round. The third and final round will hopefully be the inking. Let me know what you think!

I went down to the basement and took some more photos of how the bikes look laying down.
I think this may be the winner - you'll have to check back to see!
